About

This is the home of AndyL aka Andreas Langegger, a database and information integration expert, Java & Web 2.0 developer, and Semantic Web advocate living in Vienna, Austria.

The story so far...

Since 1996 I'm somehow addicted to the internet and the World Wide Web. After graduating from grammar school with a special focus on natural sciences in 1998, I finished the studies of Media technology and design at the Upper Austrian University Hagenberg with distinction in 2003 and decided to go to Vienna to work and study Economics at the University of Vienna.

However, because I got more and more interested into hard core computer science, I decided to do a PhD. I started working as a researcher at Johannes Kepler University Linz in 2005 and after several research projects in the e-tourism domain, grid computing, and Semantic Web, I received my doctorate degree in March 2010 with distinction.

Besides my studies, research, and teaching activities, I am also working as an independent IT consultant since September 2007.
